Three years ago, we unexpectedly lost Ariane Janér, a remarkable pioneer in ecotourism. Key founding member of the Global Ecotourism Network.

A Dutch zoologist with an MBA, Ariane dedicated her life to fostering sustainable practices in Brazil. Her extensive work included consulting on countless ecotourism projects, developing training courses, and leading marketing efforts for the Brazil Sustainable Tourism Program (PCTS). As a co-founder of EcoBrasil, the Brazilian Ecotourism Society, her passion and expertise shaped the landscape of responsible tourism and ecotourism.

We remember Ariane for her profound contributions and legacy, unwavering dedication, and her lasting impact on the fields of ecotourism, conservation and sustainable development. Her legacy continues to inspire.

GEN is pleased to announce that nominations for New Board Members are NOW OPEN until February 28th

Our Board Members are elected for three-year terms.

GEN is in search for Board Members who meet the criteria of:
- Gender Equality: We are looking for gender diversity
- Ethnicity: We are looking for more ethnicity
- Academia: Professors, Researchers etc.
- Government: Tourism Departments, Culture etc.
- Grant/Funding: Ability to look for funding opportunities
- Media: Public relations, marketing etc.

Requirements:
- Your CV or bio with a photo
- One or more recommendation letter(s) from current GEN Board Member
- Optional letter to the GEN Board Development Committee (max 400 words)
